Oh wow i wish i’d have known how long today was going to be in advance 🙁
So I got home from work around 7am after working nights for the past eight days. I work all kinds of shifts but nights definitely do hit me the hardest! My body just never seems to know when to sleep and when to be awake.
Headed over to the gym around 8am for my personal training session with my coach Zac Fotheringham. We decided to hit up an arms session as since i started training with him, it’s the one muscle group we haven’t had chance to train together.
I’ve been dieting with Zac for around 10 weeks now and currently have lost 25lbs which i am super pleased about. After an initial loss of water weight, i’ve thankfully been hitting an average 2lbs a week which is more than enough if you’re looking to achieve a longer term weight loss. And i get to eat carbs still!! Hallelujah!! I’ve dieted in the past on higher fats and let me tell you something, i am not nice to be around lol! My physique also looks a lot better now doing higher carbs so i think for now it’s something i’ll definitely stick with but hey, i never rule out trying other ways and methods 🙂
My training sessions at the moment have consisted of a lot of super sets. Super sets are when you perform 2 different exercises back to back. The purpose of doing this is to make your session intense, allowing you to perform more exercises in less time by taking fewer rests. You definitely work up a sweat thats for sure!
The workout that we did was;
- 3 x 12-15 reps Standing Barbell Bicep Curl
- 3 x 12-15 reps V Bar Tricep Extension
- 3 x 12-15 reps Skullcrushers
- 3 x 12-15 reps Seated Dumbbell Curls
- 3 x 12-15 reps EZ Barbell Preacher Curls
- 3 x 12-15 reps Angled Tricep Pushdown
I finished off with 40 minutes of LISS (Low Intensity Steady State) cardio on the stair master. During my cardio i tend to wear my thermogenic belt from Sweet Sweat. I actually ran out of the cream a while ago that they do which is designed to make you sweat more but i have still been able to use the belt without it. I tend to carry a lot of water around my midsection so i feel this helps me try and stay as lean as i can there. Or at least feel like i’m leaner lol!
I got a couple weird looks in the gym today as well for filming. People are either intrigued or wondering what on earth i’m doing! Before i started vlogging, i would set up my camera now and again, just on my phone and record the exercise i was doing. I found this really beneficial especially for exercises like squats where it’s detrimental to be looking to the side in a mirror to check your form. Plus it gave me a reference point to study from and improve. I would highly recommend to anyone starting out to try this with some of your more difficult exercises and then compare with tutorial videos to see where you can change your form.
As i’m going to Germany tomorrow, i still needed to run some errands such as collecting Euros and of course treating myself to a Starbucks to get me through the day! I’m definitely a Starbucks girl through and through.
I literally never have cow’s milk in my coffee now but especially since i’m dieting i don’t even have coconut milk either. My usual is Americano with sugar free vanilla and sugar free hazelnut. The most simplest drink ever. Jamaine came to meet me in town which was nice as we hardly ever get chance to go out anywhere together between work and training, we’re like passing ships.
I got back home around 1pm as i had to take Henry to the boarders for 2pm and then go to my beauty treatments for 3-6pm. I ordered social media cards for next day delivery (like business cards but with social media details on instead) and when i got back they had arrived.
I excitedly opened the parcel to be met by a puzzling lack of cards. When i had placed my order, Jamaine had also ordered some new cards and to my surprise only his had been sent. I examined the packet over and over, checked every card individually and subsequently completely broke down.
Now ok, i know to some this may seem a tad over dramatic. They’re just business cards right?! How could anyone be so upset over business cards?
In all honesty, it was the tip of the iceberg to a very long and stressful week. I had relentlessly worked this past week in my main job of course and then outside of work i had hardly slept getting my logo finished, first video edited and also trying to train as well. I needed a good picture for the business cards which meant another lengthy and frustrating battle trying to achieve that on my own as Jamaine was away for the weekend.
Now again, i know that there are a lot of people on social media taking nice photos, vlogging, writing blog posts and they all make it seem effortless. It isn’t. Well at least is certainly isn’t when you are learning how to work everything. I’m not exactly the most technical minded so it takes me a while to get my head around things.
And that’s just creating the content. Publishing and getting what you want to say out to the people that will benefit from it is a whole other ball game!
But anyway, the cards were important because
- I had spent a lot of money and time on them.
- They were my main way for people to access all my social media details if they were interested in following my journey.
- It’s self promotion. Everyone does it and it’s all about marketing yourself the best way.
I’m not shredded or even lean at the moment and that’s the point of me doing my blog and YouTube. Like ‘Hey come check out what i’m doing and follow my journey’.
It just really upset me and i ended up crying to the guy from the cards company and thankfully they sent my cards out to Germany for me. They also sent another 150 cards to my home address and combining those with the other 100 i picked up last minute from Staples just ended up being wayyyy too many cards!
I finally crashed out after being awake for over 28hrs at around 11:30pm only to wake 3 hours later to leave for the airport.
In hindsight, i wish i had just been more prepared and not rushed everything at the last minute but well….YOLO!
